Pediatric Speech Therapy

Helping children find their voice through evidence-based treatment that makes communication feel natural and fun.

What is it?

Building Strong Communicators

A speech disorder refers to a problem with the actual production of sounds, whereas a language disorder refers to a difficulty understanding or putting words together to communicate ideas.

Speech therapy treatment focuses on speech, language, social skills, alternative communication needs, cognitive-communication, and oral/feeding/swallowing skills to address various types of communication problems — articulation, fluency, voice, receptive and expressive language disorders, and more.

A speech-language pathologist (SLP) uses a variety of strategies including play-based language activities, oral-motor exercises, and targeted articulation modeling to help each child develop at their own pace.

🗣️ Language

The SLP interacts with a child by playing, talking, and using pictures, books, and objects to stimulate language development. Repetition exercises build speech and language skills.

🎯 Articulation

Sounds are modeled correctly during play activities. The SLP shows children how to make certain sounds — like the "r" sound — and demonstrates tongue and mouth positioning.

💪 Oral-Motor

Facial massage and tongue, lip, and jaw exercises strengthen the muscles of the mouth, paired with different food textures and temperatures to increase oral awareness.
